FA Cup replica to appear on new film 'Trautmann'!
Source: Photo: Lieblingsfilm / Fabian Rösler I am delighted to announce today that I have completed an agreement with Lieblingsfilm Film Production company in Munich to supply my full size FA CUP Replica Trophy to them for their upcoming movie 'Trautmann'. The film is a biopic of legendary German goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, the former Nazi paratrooper who became a goalkeeping legend at Manchester City, making 545 appearances and famously playing in the FA Cup final with a broken neck. Trautmann played in two FA Cup finals, losing 3-1 to Newcastle Utd in the 1955 final, before returning the following season to earn a winners medal in the '56 final with a 3-1 win over Birmingham City. Unbeknown to himself, Trautmann broke his neck in the 75th minute. For the remaining 15 minutes he defended his goal, making a crucial interception and some spectacular saves in the last minutes of the match to deny Birmingham. Trautmann had somewhat of a colourful career. As a member of the Nazi Luftwaffe, Trautmann served in the 35th Infantry Division from 1941 to 1944. He held the rank of Feldwebel, earning 5 medals, including the Iron Cross. Initially some Manchester City fans were unhappy about signing a former member of the Luftwaffe. Season ticket holders threatened a boycott, and various groups in Manchester and around the country bombarded the club with protest letters. Trautmann also became the first sportsman in Britain to wear Adidas, thanks to his friendship with it's founder Adolf Dassler. In all Trautmann appeared in 545 matches for City during a 15-year period between 1949 and 1964 and is now seen as a cult figure there. After he retired he went on to coach Stockport County, Tanzania, Liberia and Pakistan. The cast includes David Kross, Freya Mavor, John Henshaw, Dervla Kirwan, Dave Johns, Harry Melling, Gary Lewis, Michael Socha, Mikey Collins, Chloe Harris and Barbara Young, and is currently shooting in Northern Ireland and Bavaria.
My FA Cup replica trophy will appear in the movie as a key prop. Can't wait to see this film now! Check out more about the film on Facebook and the Lieblingsfilm website.
